7 Cabins
Two places to disappear from a big group aboard Soe Besar Vanrei: a circular jacuzzi at deck level, a rooftop daybed area above it. Seven cabins sleep seventeen across three decks. It sails a shared-cabin date most weeks of the year, split across two rotating calendars, so finding one is rarely hard. Charter it whole instead and the jacuzzi and daybeds are yours alone, with room for all seventeen guests.

Soe Besar Vanrei runs two separate shared-cabin calendars at once, a weekend track and a weekday track, both stretching across every month of the year rather than a handful of set dates a season. Picking a date is closer to choosing this week or next than reshaping a trip around one seasonal window. If nothing on either calendar lines up, the boat’s own booking rule lets an unbooked date convert straight to a private charter instead, so a shared sailing and a private one effectively draw from the same open calendar.
Five of the seven cabins here sleep two apiece: the Master Ocean on the main deck, two Deluxe rooms sharing the upper deck, and two Superior rooms sharing the lower deck, all queens at their own price point. The Master Suite Ocean up top is the one room built for three, a queen plus a single together, right for a family or a couple traveling with a child who’d rather not split across two doors. The four-person Sharing Cabin at the other end runs the group up to the boat’s full seventeen, four singles under one roof rather than one couple’s room stretched to fit.
The jacuzzi sits at deck level next to the dining table and covered lounge, the obvious stop after a swim. One flight up, the rooftop is daybeds and open sky, with room enough that seventeen guests don’t all end up crowding the same patch of shade. Soe Besar Vanrei’s own crew, a certified guide, a dedicated chef and a photographer, run both decks and the stops between them, on a boat built of ironwood in Sulawesi and Labuan Bajo in 2022.
Seventeen guests, a jacuzzi, a karaoke set and communal dining put this boat’s natural crowd in one place: families and friend groups big enough to fill it, rather than a couple hunting a quiet corner. Couples get a nod too, with room decoration and proposal setups on offer for honeymoons, birthdays and anniversaries. Every guest sails under Jasa Raharja, Indonesia’s statutory passenger accident cover, on top of the usual first-aid kit and safety gear aboard.

Soe Besar Vanrei runs on Starlink, genuine satellite internet rather than a hotspot tethered to a phone signal, so it keeps working in bays where cell coverage drops out completely. For a boat built around bigger groups and families, that means everyone can get online at once instead of hunting for the one spot near the bridge where a phone gets a bar.
It’s standard maritime safety practice to carry rescue capacity well past the guest count, and Soe Besar Vanrei’s rated life raft sits far above its own 17-guest maximum rather than matching it exactly. Paired with 25 life jackets, 6 life buoys and 8 fire extinguishers aboard, the margin is a safety buffer, not a sign of a bigger boat than advertised.
No. Shared-cabin guests use the same deck jacuzzi and rooftop daybeds as a full private charter, since both spaces are part of every sailing regardless of how you book. The only difference on a full charter is having them without sharing with another cabin’s guests.
Room decoration and a separate wedding proposal setup, each with its own decor and lighting, are both available for honeymoons, birthdays and anniversaries. Neither comes bundled automatically into a cabin or charter price, so mention the occasion when you inquire and we’ll confirm what’s arranged for it.
No. The onboard photographer and guide are standard on both the shared cabin trip and the full private charter, with documentation by camera, GoPro and drone included either way, not an extra reserved for one trip type.
Shared trips are the most common way solo travelers sail with us: you book your spot, not the whole boat, and arrive to ready-made company. On liveaboards, if you’d rather not share a cabin, say so and we’ll sort a single or price the supplement honestly. More on the Shared Journey page.
The guest capacity on this page is the honest answer, and how your group fills it is up to you. Tell us who’s coming and we’ll confirm the setup that fits before you commit. More on the Private Charter page.
The route changes before anyone risks a crossing, so most weather problems show up as a different anchorage rather than a cancelled trip. On the rare occasion a trip can’t run at all, we work out a reschedule or a refund with you under our T&C. Itineraries are always a plan, never a promise.
We strongly recommend it, and dive insurance too if you’re diving. It isn’t included in any boat’s price, and out among the islands help is never next door, so a policy that covers boat travel is money well spent. Some dive boats require dive insurance, and we’ll tell you if yours does.
Yes, with a permit. The park requires one for every drone, and approval takes about three working days, so it needs arranging before you travel. There are no same-day permits, and flying without one risks having the drone confiscated. Kalong, Loh Buaya and Loh Liang are permanent no-fly zones, which puts the sunset bat flight off limits. We don’t arrange the permit ourselves, but ask us and we’ll talk you through how it works.
Fly to Labuan Bajo, usually via Bali or Jakarta, and the harbour is minutes from the airport. Come in the day before your boat leaves rather than the same morning: one delayed flight shouldn’t cost you the trip.
Calmer than most people expect. Every water we sail has its own calm window, and rough crossings are rarer than the word “sea” suggests. If you’re prone to motion sickness, take something before you board and you’ll barely notice: it’s the open stretches you feel, never the anchorages.
Less than you think. Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, something long-sleeved for the sun, shoes that can handle a dry ridge, and a dry bag for anything that must stay dry. A soft bag beats a hard suitcase on any boat.
You message us, we check what’s actually free on the boat you’re after, then send everything in writing: the boat, the dates, what’s included and the real price. Happy with it? We issue an invoice and a secure payment link, and written confirmation seals it.
A down payment takes your dates off the calendar, and the balance follows closer to departure. The exact split and timing are on your quotation in writing before you commit to anything.
We issue an invoice with a secure Xendit payment link, sent by email and WhatsApp. You can pay by local or international card, virtual account, e-wallet, or QRIS. Everything is charged in Indonesian rupiah.
Plans shift, and we work with you when they do. Dates can usually be moved once if the boat is free, and if a trip can’t go ahead, we’ll walk you through your options rather than point at fine print. Anything that needs to come back to you returns the way you paid, usually within 7 to 14 business days. The full detail is in our Terms & Conditions.
They’re not included in any boat’s price, but you don’t have to deal with them on the ground. Say the word when you enquire and we’ll add them to your invoice, which locks your permit in before you arrive. No cash, no queue at the harbour the morning you sail.
If this one isn't quite it, these sail the same water at close to the same price. Worth a look before you decide.
