Who We Are

We've been on this water long before Pirate Journey had a name. This is the crew behind it, and how we got here.

The Crew

We never got very good at being tourists.
Somewhere between Gili Air and these waters, traveling stopped being the thing we did and became the thing we are.

Ata

Ran the Gili Air beach restaurant where all of this started. A decade on, he's still welcoming travelers in person. The venue changed. The captain never did.

The Lostboys

Never just a channel. A cook, a driver, a musician, a clown, a captain, a camera. That crew set the bar for how every trip since should feel: crewed, not staffed.

Erick

The crew's documenter, forever chasing the candid frame. He built Pirate Journey the same way he shoots: nothing staged, nothing hidden.

Eight years, in a few minutes.

Before Pirate Journey existed, we filmed everything. This is what it looked like from behind the camera. When it ends, keep scrolling: the whole story starts at a beach restaurant on Gili Air.

Island Roots

Running a beachside restaurant on Gili Air, days shaped by tides, sunsets, and bonfire stories from travelers passing through.

The island taught us that places are communities you protect, not just visit.

– 2010 to 2014

Curiosity in Motion

We hit the road with our cameras, documenting Lombok and beyond as The Lostboys on YouTube, then guiding travelers there ourselves.

Storytelling became the way we saw and shared every place.

– 2015 to 2019

Trust & Craft

When the world paused, we moved behind the camera, and started building The Lostboys Studios for brands and tourism boards across Indonesia.

Those years taught us trust is built long before anyone books.

– 2020 to 2024

Bringing It Together

The island years, the road, the cameras, the missteps. All of it became Pirate Journey. Not a fresh start, an evolution, still led by the curiosity that began on a small island.

– 2024 and beyond

Where our journey took us

A decade of islands, crossings, and the faces we met along the way. A few frames from the road that led here.
