Amalfi
6 Packages
5 Cabins
Amalfi launched in 2023 with a jacuzzi on the foredeck and three of its five cabins opening onto private balconies strung with hammocks. It suits small groups and couples after a stylish, snorkel-focused Komodo run rather than a dive boat. Private charters lean festive too, with karaoke on board and a DJ available as a paid add-on for afternoon and night sets.

Overview
A jacuzzi on the foredeck
Sundecks are standard issue out here; Amalfi adds an outdoor jacuzzi up front, alongside bean bags, lazy chairs and chilling beds for the parts of the day nobody wants to move. A shaded dining table runs down the main deck, so meals and downtime share the same open-air space instead of getting pushed below. Two ten-thousand-watt generators keep the boat fully powered at anchor as well as underway.
Hammocks off three balconies
Five cabins split three ways. Komodo, the master room, takes the top spot with a double bed, sea views, a private balcony and its own extra bed for a third guest, useful if a family of three doesn’t want to book a second cabin. Manta 1 and Manta 2 match the same balcony-and-hammock setup one rung down. Nemo 1 and 2 sit on the lower deck, ensuite and air conditioned like the rest, just without the sea view or the hammock outside the door. Ten guests total, eleven with the extra bed.
Check which trip the cameras ride on
Amalfi’s shared open trip includes a crew shooting with a camera, GoPro and drone, footage included at no extra charge, plus a local guide who travels with the group. Book a private charter instead and the documentation crew is a per-day booking rather than part of the boat. Check which product you’re looking at before you assume the cameras are included, since the answer depends on it.
The schedule shapes those two products just as much. The shared trip runs every weekend and every midweek, Friday to Sunday and Monday to Wednesday, a more regular schedule than most of the fleet keeps. Private charters stretch from a single day out to five, with the longer routes reaching further, out to Rangko Cave and the quieter anchorages around Sabolo and Le Pirate Island, while the shared trip keeps to the park’s core stops. Either way it’s a snorkeling boat, not a diving one, and the karaoke set plus a bookable DJ make the private evenings the livelier option.

Booking & Payment
Not a single point of failure: Amalfi carries two 10,000-watt generators, a main and a backup, so the AC and power stay on if one drops out at anchor or underway. She also runs AIS, standard on ships but a step up for a phinisi this size, so other vessels and search-and-rescue can track her position automatically rather than relying on radio alone.
It’s built into the trip price, not an add-on you have to seek out. This cover pays out for death, accident and medical costs if something happens onboard, though it stops short of personal gear, so a camera or other valuables still need their own cover if you’re bringing something worth protecting.
On a private charter, yes, though it’s booked separately rather than bundled with the boat. The DJ runs two sets, an afternoon session and a night one, on top of the karaoke setup already onboard, so it’s for groups planning a proper party night rather than a quiet couple’s trip. It isn’t available on the shared open trip, private charter only.
Not a printed set list, more a working rotation the galley pulls from: chicken, fish, squid, prawns, tofu and tempeh dishes across the trip, plus fried rice and fresh fruit, so nobody eats the same plate twice on a three-day run. Expect a welcome drink on arrival and a BBQ dinner if you’re on the shared trip, with water, tea and coffee free-flowing the whole way.
Shared trips are the most common way solo travelers sail with us: you book your spot, not the whole boat, and arrive to ready-made company. On liveaboards, if you’d rather not share a cabin, say so and we’ll sort a single or price the supplement honestly. More on the Shared Journey page.
The guest capacity on this page is the honest answer, and how your group fills it is up to you. Tell us who’s coming and we’ll confirm the setup that fits before you commit. More on the Private Charter page.
The route changes before anyone risks a crossing, so most weather problems show up as a different anchorage rather than a cancelled trip. On the rare occasion a trip can’t run at all, we work out a reschedule or a refund with you under our T&C. Itineraries are always a plan, never a promise.
We strongly recommend it, and dive insurance too if you’re diving. It isn’t included in any boat’s price, and out among the islands help is never next door, so a policy that covers boat travel is money well spent. Some dive boats require dive insurance, and we’ll tell you if yours does.
Yes, with a permit. The park requires one for every drone, and approval takes about three working days, so it needs arranging before you travel. There are no same-day permits, and flying without one risks having the drone confiscated. Kalong, Loh Buaya and Loh Liang are permanent no-fly zones, which puts the sunset bat flight off limits. We don’t arrange the permit ourselves, but ask us and we’ll talk you through how it works.
Fly to Labuan Bajo, usually via Bali or Jakarta, and the harbour is minutes from the airport. Come in the day before your boat leaves rather than the same morning: one delayed flight shouldn’t cost you the trip.
Calmer than most people expect. Every water we sail has its own calm window, and rough crossings are rarer than the word “sea” suggests. If you’re prone to motion sickness, take something before you board and you’ll barely notice: it’s the open stretches you feel, never the anchorages.
Less than you think. Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, something long-sleeved for the sun, shoes that can handle a dry ridge, and a dry bag for anything that must stay dry. A soft bag beats a hard suitcase on any boat.
How does booking with Pirate Journey work?
You message us, we check what’s actually free on the boat you’re after, then send everything in writing: the boat, the dates, what’s included and the real price. Happy with it? We issue an invoice and a secure payment link, and written confirmation seals it.
How do I secure my dates?
A down payment takes your dates off the calendar, and the balance follows closer to departure. The exact split and timing are on your quotation in writing before you commit to anything.
What payment methods can I use?
We issue an invoice with a secure Xendit payment link, sent by email and WhatsApp. You can pay by local or international card, virtual account, e-wallet, or QRIS. Everything is charged in Indonesian rupiah.
What if my plans shift after booking?
Plans shift, and we work with you when they do. Dates can usually be moved once if the boat is free, and if a trip can’t go ahead, we’ll walk you through your options rather than point at fine print. Anything that needs to come back to you returns the way you paid, usually within 7 to 14 business days. The full detail is in our Terms & Conditions.
How do the national park fees work?
They’re not included in any boat’s price, but you don’t have to deal with them on the ground. Say the word when you enquire and we’ll add them to your invoice, which locks your permit in before you arrive. No cash, no queue at the harbour the morning you sail.
